TECHNICAL ANODIZING
Technical anodizing was developed to functionally improve aluminum and aluminum components. This layer is formed by anodic oxidation in a cold, acidic electrolyte of a specific composition. An electric current is used to create a protective aluminum surface layer on the workpiece. The achievable layer thickness depends on the application, the desired layer properties, and other parameters. For most applications, layer thicknesses of 5–25 µm can be achieved. The focus is on corrosion protection.
Properties
- Maximum layer thickness: 30 µm
- Corrosion protection: max. 2000 hours salt spray test according to DIN (acetic acid salt spray test)
- Hardness: up to approx. 250 HV 0.025 – alloy-dependent
Advantages
- Optimal layer bonding
- Good wear resistance
- Improved corrosion resistance
- Good dimensional stability
