PICKLING PASSIVATION / SURTEC 650
Pickling passivation involves first cleaning the workpieces and reliably removing contaminants. This is followed by a pickling treatment, which removes unwanted oxide layers from the workpiece surface. A conversion coating (passivation) is then applied to the workpiece surface.
We offer this process using the product Surtec 650, as it is characterized by its high level of corrosion protection and has therefore been approved by the aerospace industry. In addition to its optical properties, it is primarily used for corrosion protection and as an adhesion promoter for subsequent painting. This surface meets all current standards and is completely free of chromium VI and absolutely colorless.
Properties of Surtec 650
Surtec 650 is chromium VI-free and colorless. Passivation exhibits significantly lower abrasion resistance than comparable anodized coatings. Thin layers combined with a homogeneous surface finish of the highest quality characterize this process. Furthermore, colorless passivated surfaces are electrically conductive and solderable.
Base material: Aluminum in anodized quality
Layer thickness: 80–100 nm / less than 1 µm
Contact resistance: < 0.8 mOhm/cm² Coating weight: 150 - 200 mg/m² Corrosion protection: approx. 300 h salt spray test Product window: maximum part size The maximum dimensions of your workpieces must not exceed 6500 x 1500 x 550 mm. This gives us the largest tank for pickling passivation with Surtec 650 in Austria.
For highly complex aerospace parts, a small system is available for workpieces up to 300 x 300 x 300 mm.
Industries and Standards
Surtec 650 is RoHS and REACH compliant.
Due to its versatility, this colorless passivation is frequently used in electrical engineering, the IT sector, mechanical engineering, and the automotive industry.
