COLOR COATING PROCESS
In this electrolytic coloring process, the aluminum workpieces are colored in a second process step after anodizing using alternating current in a coloring electrolyte containing metal salts. The metal ions of this electrolyte penetrate deep into the aluminum. This allows for the creation of lightfast colors that can be graduated in brightness from light beige through bronze to black. The color effect does not occur on the surface of the anodized layer, but is completely protected from environmental influences at the base of the pores (see diagram).
The color effect and the overall appearance are influenced by the alloy used, the type of mechanical pretreatment, and the surface coating process employed.
We recommend producing limit samples in every case. Custom colors and special colors can also be produced upon request.
The following color shades can be achieved using the Color coloring process (abbreviations for color shades according to Euras/EWAA – Qualanod):
- Stainless steel design (C31) – brushed and polished
- Light bronze (C32)
- Medium bronze (C33)
- Dark bronze (C34)
- Black (C35)
