With the “anodized” surface finish, you have made an excellent choice, as anodized surfaces are durable and usually remain beautiful and corrosion-resistant even after decades of use.
To ensure you retain these benefits for as long as possible, it is essential to pay attention to a few details regarding maintenance and care.
General Information
Cleaning and care are best carried out with a soft cloth and neutral substances – preferably water. If neutral cleaning agents are used (pH value between 5 and 8), rinse thoroughly with clean water afterward and dry with a soft cloth.
Soda solutions, alkalis, and acids – i.e., substances outside the pH range of 5 to 8 – must be avoided under all circumstances. Abrasive cleaning agents must not be used.
Exterior – Architecture
As you can see from our application examples, anodized surfaces are very durable and easy to maintain. How often maintenance is necessary depends on the environmental conditions to which the anodized surfaces are exposed. We refer you to the regulations of the German Association for the Cleaning of Metal Facades (www.grm-online.de)
For cleaning, it is best to use neutral, synthetic cleaning solutions with a cloth, sponge, chamois, or soft brush. Rinsing with clean water and drying completes the cleaning process. If stubborn dirt has set in, mildly abrasive cleaning agents or fiber pads with neutral, finely ground polishing agents can be used. However, care must be taken to ensure that the surface is not scratched during the cleaning process.
If you decide to apply a protective coating after cleaning, only a very thin, water-repellent film should remain. The coating must not yellow or cause iridescent effects. It is also essential to ensure that the coating does not attract dust and dirt. Waxes, petroleum jelly, lanolin, and similar substances, as well as solvent-based cleaners (e.g., thinner, gasoline), are not suitable.

Interior Design
Caring for anodized surfaces is very easy. Anodized surfaces can be cleaned by wiping them with a soft cloth. Neutral cleaning agents with a pH value between 5 and 8 are permitted for heavier soiling. In this case, rinse the affected areas with clean water after cleaning and dry everything with a soft cloth. Generally, however, surfaces should ideally only be cleaned with clean water and soft cloths. A final polish with a dry, soft cloth will restore the surface to a like-new appearance.
